Jef became one of my closest friends during my time at the OU over twenty years ago. We shared interests in sci fi, cats, fantasy, and Goth genres. He had a big heart and compassion, but didn't suffer fools gladly! We shared food, conversation, and many cinema trips. He introduced me to the delights of Babylon 5, Terry Pratchett, and Studio Ghibli, which are still part of my life today and have been passed on to the next generation. In return, he predicted, I was the person through whom he would meet his future wife; and in a very roundabout way this became true as he met his beloved Steph through our mutual links to Leicester. He touched many lives, human and feline, and we are better for having known him. “What have I always believed? That on the whole, and by and large, if a man lived properly, not according to what any priests said, but according to what seemed decent and honest inside, then it would, at the end, more or less, turn out all right.” -Terry Pratchett, Small Gods "The molecules of your body are the same molecules that make this station and the nebula outside, that burn inside the stars themselves. We are star-stuff. We are the Universe, made manifest, trying to figure itself out. And, as we have both learned, sometimes the Universe needs a change of perspective." - Delenn, A Distant Star, Babylon 5
