Jef was one of the first people to welcome me into the greater geek community when I moved to Milton Keynes, and that opened the door to me becoming much happier here. We worked together to set up a local gaming club; Jef did a huge amount to get it up and running, and maintained that for years. Twenty years later, that club is still going strong, still making people happy, and still bringing people together (I think it's at three marriages and zero divorces). Jef had a lot of interests and was passionate about most of them. Macs, EVs, the general state of the world: he was a man who knew what needed doing and was very happy to buck the trend to do the right thing; the rest of the world eventually caught up. But my most abiding memory of his love. He loved cats, and did plenty to support them. And it was very clear that he was head-over-heels in love with Steph. It was a joy and a privilege to see. He will be missed.
