Jef supported so many projects – websites, databases, data storage – that underpinned our research achievements. His technical insight and his clarity in explaining not just what to do, but why, and what to pay attention to in future were catalytic. It wasn’t just me. Countless times I’d ask someone else a tech question, and the response would be “Just ask Jef.” More importantly, thanks to my frequent tech questions, I found a friend in Jef, one who's voice, heart, humour, personality, and generosity resonate still.
